COUNTY OF SAN DIEGO ZNE PORTFOLIO PLAN

A first-of-its-kind plan developed by a local government in California, the County of San Diego’s Zero Net Energy (ZNE) Portfolio Plan lays out actions through which the County can cost-effectively cut its energy footprint in half by 2030 across more than 11 million square feet of real estate.

UC IRVINE MIDDLE EARTH CAMPUS EXPANSION

The Middle Earth Campus Expansion at the University of California, Irvine (UCI) is a 215,000 SF amenity-rich high-density housing development in the academic core of campus. Designed to help UCI achieve its goal of carbon neutrality by 2025, the project targeted LEED Platinum certification from the outset and 20% more efficient performance than the state’s aggressive Title 24 energy code.

OCEAN DISCOVERY INSTITUTE LIVING LAB

The Ocean Discovery Institute Living Lab is a state-of-the-art science education facility engaging underserved youth, families, and community members in tuition-free hands-on science programs. Early in the concept stages of planning their new ground-up facility, the Ocean Discovery Institute (ODI) set an aggressive goal of Zero Net Energy. Anything less was inconsistent with their mission and core value of environmental stewardship.
